Best Kid-Friendly Hotels in Llandudno, Wales

View all Llandudno Hotels

Llandudno is a seaside resort town in northern Wales, famous for its lovely promenade that stretches along the shore. The Victorian-era Llandudno pier is the longest in the country and home to carnival rides, kiosks, and arcade games. The town is easily walkable, and a short drive from Great Orme Country Park (where visitors can take a cable car up to the summit for views of the sea and Snowdonia National Park). Other area attractions include the Conwy Suspension Bridge and Conwy Castle. Here are our picks for Llandudno's family-friendliest hotels.

  1. A bed-and-breakfast overlooking Llandudno's beachfront promenade, the Lawton Court Hotel is one of three attractive Victorian town houses owned and operated by the same family that includes the Lauriston Court Hotel next door. Together, they are among the finest bed-and-breakfasts in town, providing seaside lodgings and a genuinely warm and welcoming ambience. The 11 rooms -- which include Doubles, Twins, and Family Rooms -- blend contemporary style, homey furnishings, and seaside-themed touches. In-room amenities include free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities, and 22-inch flat-screen TVs with DVD players. Rooms facing the sea have lovely views, while those in the back have little to look at. A full Welsh breakfast included in the room rate and Wi-Fi is free throughout.

  2. The handsome and stately Empire Hotel is a few minutes' walk from Llandudno beachfront promenade and pier. The 62 rooms are generally spacious and well laid out with flat-screen TVs, DVD players (a free film library is on-site), and mini-fridges. Note that some of the lower-priced rooms can be small. The indoor pool area also has a sauna, steam room, and hot tub, while a small outdoor heated  pool is surrounded by a sundeck with loungers -- there's even a rooftop garden terrace with a children's paddling pool. Breakfast and dining options in the two restaurants are also top-notch. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.

  3. Lauriston Court Hotel is a particularly inviting family-friendly bed-and-breakfast overlooking the west side of Llandudno's beachfront promenade. In-room amenities include free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities, and 22-inch flat-screen TVs with DVD players -- some rooms also have Sky satellite channels, espresso makers, and mini-fridges. A hearty breakfast is cheerfully served each morning, and there's plenty of comfy lounge space where guests can unwind or socialize. All in all, it's one of the finest -- and friendliest -- examples of its kind to be found in the area.

  4. Occupying a quaint Victorian house a four-minute walk from the promenade, this bed-and-breakfast offers a homey stay. Interiors are a bit dated -- think dizzying floral patterns in the lounge, printed bedspreads, and traditional wooden furniture, some of which shows wear. Rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs and electric kettles with free tea and coffee, plus all have en-suite bathrooms. Features are limited at this small hotel, but breakfast is included in rates and served in a homey dining room. Packed lunches are also available upon request. There's a small bar in the breakfast room and guests can enjoy drinks in the dining space or in the cozy lounge room, which has a fireplace and a TV. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
